Rob J.Although Rob has 2 degrees in geography, he taught highschool for 10 years, bull dozed holes into the ground for several years and repaired radars while sailing through the red Sea, he eventually came to call himself an artist. When he had no customers during the 20 years he worked at his Baskin and Robbins store, he started to doodle, then draw, then paint. The Springfield, IL Art Association offered evening watercolor classes and he signed up for several 3 hour lessons. His first paintings were disasters, but he was persistant, and taught himself the techniques of watercolor painting. 10 years later he sold his ice cream store and started his career as an artist. He now has close to 100 limited edition print projects ranging from the State Capital building of Illinois to rainbow zebras. Lately Rob has been interested in mountain scenes, big botanicals, and bulidings of local interest. He paints watercolors everyday, and contines to be to try to challenge himself in his work. |
